Today I narrowed my research question to: To what extent do erosion and sediment control practices, utilized on construction sites, prevent sedimentation and protect water quality of nearby rivers and streams?
Over the summer I have found a few helpful sources to use for my paper. One would be Field Guide for Erosion and Sediment Control Practices on Construction Sites in Alabama. It describes each method, how to set up each method, and how to maintain it.
I plan to research more on how effective these practices typically are, how sedimentation has changed as time has continued and more construction has been done, and comparing sedimentation of an area prior to construction and after. I may choose to create a model of a few of these methods to test it's efficiency.
